One of the hardest parts about being an author is growing your audience and getting your name out there, and that oftentimes means getting on social media.
I was talking to a friend the other day about social media, and she said something that I just loved.
To get engagement you need to be engaging!
Just making posts on social media isn’t enough. You have to check and see if anyone commented on your post and reply to as many of those comments as you can, even if that reply is just an emoji.
If you want people to engage with you, then you need to be willing to engage with them in return.
And you know what? Those replies to your commenters will improve your engagement rate, and that improves your position with the social media algorithm.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve consulted with a company about their social media, and when I did the review, I found they don’t ever interact with their followers. It doesn’t make sense. Social media is about being social!
You aren’t supposed to just talk at your followers, you should be communicating with them. It’s a back-and-forth exchange.

- Video Views and Watch Time: On platforms with video content, the number of views and the average watch time are crucial metrics. They show how engaging the video content is and whether people are watching it through to the end.
